California's fire season

Like Christmas, it comes every year. This photo was taken last night, 10/13 @ 21:40. These fires are 4 miles north of my home.

Gosh, that's so bad. Tell me why do Californians still build their homes in fire prone areas? As a former volunteer fire fighter I learned to appreciate fire prevention and every year I see examples of poor fire prevention in your lovely state.

Some friends lost their barn and tackroom in Brown's canyon, here's before and after. Some of these areas are going to burn eventually regardless, and when the Santa Anas kick up it doesn't matter how well you have cleared your land, the sparks and embers are everywhere, it is something you have to see to believe.
