Mainsail difficult to raise

I have a 1991 Compac 33, My main sail is very difficult to raise. Has anybody had such an experience with this make and model?

Check your sheaves & halyards. This happened to my H'31. The Sta-set X had absorbed moisture and made it nearly impossible to raise the main with the use of the winch. I changed out the line from 1/2" to 7/16" and the problem went away.

We also one of the fellows at our marina that had a cracked sheave. That made the raising & lowering a problem. Can you raise and lower the halyard with a sail attached without any problem?

I do not have any experience with a Compac.

Is the halyard stuck or is the sail not sliding in the track?

You may need slugs.
