The aft water tank on my Catalina 400 (hull #6) has the vent on the side of the tank. Any ideas on correcting this problem, as the tank is easily overfilled by charterers and then leaks under the aft berth ? Thanks.

The two aft water tanks on my '93-36' are vented into the cockpit. A hose runs from the top of the tank to a chrome thru-hull type fitting like those found for venting fuel overflow. Hope this helps

installing the vents. Hi, Donna-- To the best of my knowledge, all tanks vent overboard for obvious reasons -- one of which you describe. Suggest that you call Gerry Douglas at CatalinaYachts and ask him where the tank should vent to. He designed the C-400 so he should know. I suspect that a worker went to lunch, forgot to finish the job and it wasn't picked up. If so, Catalina will certeinly take care of putting things right. Good luck-- Ernie April
the vents on hull 10 goes out the side of the boat for both water tanks.
