Here are some photos I took of the Charles W Morgan, which is undergoing a three year restoration in Mystic CT. The CWM is the last remaining wooden whaling ship.

There is also a photo gallery link of the October hauling.
I hope you enjoy it.

What became of the original Amistad?

This from the Wiki:

After being moored at the wharf behind the US Custom House in New London (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_London,_Connecticut), Connecticut (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connecticut), for a year and a half, La Amistad was auctioned off by the U.S. Marshal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Marshal) in October 1840. Captain George Hawford, of Newport (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newport,_Rhode_Island), Rhode Island (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhode_Island), purchased the vessel and then needed an Act of Congress (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Act_of_Congress) passed so that he could register her. He renamed her Ion. In late 1841, he sailed the ship to Bermuda (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bermuda) and Saint Thomas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Thomas,_U.S._Virgin_Islands) with a typical New England (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_England) cargo of onions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onions), apples (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apples), live poultry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poultry), and cheese (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheese).
After sailing Ion for a few years, Hawford sold the ship in Guadeloupe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guadeloupe) in 1844. There is no record of what became of the Ion under her new French (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France) owners in the Caribbean (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caribbean).

Thanks, Bilbo. That boat has some history behind it.
