I just purchased a 1974 Irwin 33. It has pedastle steering and I am looking to purchase an emergency tiller for the rudder post knub that sticks up on the cockpit floor.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Look here

I don't think they offered an emergency tiller because it doesn't look like there is enough room to steer with one.
Good luck

Here is a very easy solution:

Rik, another good job. It looks like you solved the problem of getting the tiller arm above the steering pedestal. Is the joint at the deck strong enough to steer from the end of the tiller or do you have to manually support the extension at the bend? Either way it looks like it would work OK in an emergency.
Thanks again for the post. Too many times people ask questions and nobody responds So I give them my best shot just so they know they're not writing on a blank page. Unfortunately, I'm not always right on. So thanks again.

Yes - supports it fine - but it is not "power steering" - but it sure would beat a pair of vise-grips!
