A friend of mine is attempting to buy a hurricane salvage Irwin 34,unknown year, maybe mid '80's. There is no serial number on the transom. I have read that after 1984 mfgs were required to put a second serial number inside the boat in a protected location. Does anyone know where this SN might be located?
Thanks,
Jimmy

On mine (1981), that number is painted in about 3-inch high characters below the removable sole over the bilge, just aft of the head bulkhead, near the base of the support post for the mast.

My 74 has the number molded into the rear of the transom on the starboard side. There is a documented number that is routered into a peice of wood fastened inside a cupboard in the rear head. Also someone put the number on small plastic label near the main hatch. If documented , 3 inch numbers are required and if not documented it would have to have the numbers on each side of the bow. If everything was intentionally removed you could probably apply for some kind of builder title. Hope this helps.
