I have a Universal 5411 in my 1982 Cat 30. Has anyone installed a tachometer on this engine? What kind of tach? Where do you connect the wires? It would be nice to see what kind of revs the engine is turning!

Universal has an optional tachometer (299263) for the 5411 and the parts or service manuals have diagrams showing how to connect the wires. For about $200.00 less, you can get a Teleflex kit with a tach that can be much the same way. With the Teleflex kit you will have to learn a little more about the alternator and possibly do som calibration but it can be made to work.
