Jim Bohart's announcement of his intent to leave the site is a shame. However, after reading some of the posts, who can blame him? There is nothing wrong with owners seeking solutions, or even venting frustration. They should just do it in the proper way and the proper place. The Ask the Hunter Rep forum and Bohart's Landing were not the right places. Which brings me to my suggestion. I am confused (and judging by the posts, so are others) as to which forums are appropriate for what. It would be helpful for the header in each forum to clarify what the forum is for, and diverting some likely topics that are inappropriate. For example, "Ask the Hunter Rep" sort of invites, by its title, the kind of postings that frustrate Jim. But what if the page said, in bold letters, "This site is for usage tips and techniques only. For warranty, customer service, complaints, or parts, contact Hunter Marine directly at..."? Maybe then, Jim would not had to deal with some of the inappropriate posts. When should a post should go to the "size" forums, and when should it go to the "Ask an Owner" forum? If you have a problem with teak, rub rails, etc, that applies to all boat sizes. "Size" forums might say, at the top, "If your issue applies to boats regardless of size, please go to the Ask an Ownder forum for topics of general interst." Otherwise, people with problems to solve might well be tempted to post their issue everywhere in the hope of getting solutions. Focusing the problem-posters and the solution-providers in clear compartments would help. But please don't take this as a complaint about the site. It's fantastic! Your technical innovations are impressive, and the spirit of the site is a joy. I'm just throwing out an idea that others might consider. This "problem" only exists because the site is too successful!

...and actually pretty easy to implement. I appreciate the help - this is a good time to re-evaluate the forums and how they're positioned.

I'm checking your site about everyday now for info and advice and enjoying it greatly! But I agree that there is overlap in the forums and I need to browse many of them to get the same information. ie. "Ask and Owner" and "Sailor to Sailor" are about the same thing. The forums for the various size classifications are appropriate. I agree that some topics might apply across the board, but some of the overlapping areas could be reduced. Thanks again for a great site!
