depth sounder on an 87 MAC 25D HELP!!!

I just bought a MAC 26D. It came with a uniden depth meter and an Airmar thru hull transducer. (model P5). I mounted the depth meter guage in the cockpit and now I am having trouble with where to put the transducer. It says that it must be forward of the keel but cannot be on a surface with a deadrise angle of more than 10 degrees.Does anyone out there have a mac 26d with a transducer mounted? If so where did you put it. What about the water ballast??thanksPaul cicbtpm@aol.com

I am using a fishfinder, same technology though. I installed the transducer in a puddle of slow cure epoxy at the forward edge of the lazarette. Works like a champ.
