Recently while motoring on my 380 (hull 278), one of the vent hoses was eaten, literally, by the prop shaft. The wire in the hose became tightly wrapped around the prop shaft from the stuffing to the transmission. Apparently, the wire scored through the seal on the transmission, the oil ran out. Result: one destroyed tranny! Catalina did replace it at their expense. Warning! Check that your hoses are securely attached. I'd be interested if anyone else has had a similar problem.
