What would cause the brass bushing to separate from the rubber impeller? (normal wear, defective impeller, shark's tooth?) We have a Yanmar 1GM in our '81 H27. The impeller is 9 months old. I start the engine at least once a week and it never operates in a sandy area

Hey, I am afraid I think that Yamar parts had a quality control problem. Saw it somewhere on the web. I had the same problem. They say that they are tightening up on thier controls. Cheers, Keith
Yep, I've experienced this as well (two impellers in two weeks). Make certain to carry a spare!!
