Has anyone ever installed a generator on a Catalina 34? I have seen a few small ones that may work.
what kind have you seen that you think would fit. gary and loretta

Hey guys, I just came from the FT. Lauderdale show and looked at Fischer Panda gens, a new Westerbeke and one called HLF if I recall correctly .They are all in what is essentially an insulated fiberglass suitcase with exit hoses for the necessary plunbing. Both engine and electrical ends are water cooled so the suitcase idea works well as the only air needed is for combustion whereas other gens are bigger and require lots of ventilation for cooling the business end. All that cooling space lets out all the noise. Qiuet ? how about 55db. Thats 10 db less than the interior of a Lexus at 65 mph ! The units I looked at were 4.2 - 4.5 kw. Should run most air systems. Size ... tiny. Weight about 200 lbs. Bad news... over 6 grand. Has any one out in Cat Land tried one yet ????
I have a Catalina 36 and looked into generators. After a lot of research I went with a large batterie bank. The only advantage of a generater would be for trying to run a air conditioner and you would need a very large gen. I hope this helps Bob
