View Full Version : Cleaning the 170 hull
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean the 170 hull?Mine has 'black' dirt which cleaners have not been able to remove. I have been reluctant to try any of the fiberglass cleaners.Any input will be appreciated.ThanksDen

I used Greased Lightning and it worked pretty well.

I use Starbrite Hull Polish. Works great for black marks from rigging as well as scuffs, stains and films. Apply, swirl and gone! Does not seem to hurt the finish.

Mine was badly stained when I bought it several months ago. I used Soft Scrub (the non-scratching cleanser), and it seemed to work very well. I followed up with a waterless car washing product for polishing and protection. So far, so good.

Try using 3M Microfinishing compond #06011 (from an automotive paint store, about $13) by hand or low RPM polisher to remove the stuff that won't come off. You can bring the worst hull back to looking like new.
