Jim: Thanks for your replies so far.From your last reply it seems you suspect that this release wax was never properly removed from day one - six years ago!!!.I can believe that is possible and would like to know how to test for this to determine if in fact that is the problem. Can you please advise me?Thanks in advance.

The only thing other than painting it I know is to take a clean white cotton cloth and with it and some acetone wipe the gel coat. The release wax will leave a yellowish residue on the cloth. But after 6 years it could be anything that colors the rag.JB
