Have an old col.41 and am getting leaking into cabin. It seems to be the rub rail where the deck and hull are joined. Anyone with experience on fixing this? Seems the rubberinsert may be old and not sealing properly. And maybe the metal piece holding the rubber may be leaking also. Any experience with removing it and re-caulking the joint?
Does the C-41 utilize the aluminum H-channel to join the hull to deck? Mine does, and it leaks. Water enters the top of the H and runs aft to the end, where it drains into the back of the boat. The solution is to scrape out all the old sealant, and put repeated doses of liquid LifeCaulk or similar till the sealant stops flowing into the crack. Then cover with a bead of regular LifeCaulk.

I am trying the following- Drill 1/4" holes 6" o/c from the inside into the cavity in the aluminum hull joint extrusion and fill eith expanding foam. This should permanently seprevent any water from getting inside the joint.
