8.3 Information please

Seriously considering purchase of a Columbia 8.3. She's in the water now, and has been lived aboard for two years.........She's still powered with the Atomic 4 and I'm a little worried that the old "Iron Mainsl" will give me trouble......repowering won't be a possibility for some time, so does anyone have advice relative to this model generally or the Atomic 4 specifically

My C36 has an atopmic 4. It is running great. Take care of her and she will take care of you. Just don't forget the bilge blower before starting. A power boat guy did last week and blew out the windows in the Rusty Scupper. Also critically injured everyone on board. Luckily no one killer. Boat totalled.I don't know where you are located, but I am in Baltimore, Md., and I have most of the parts of an old Atomic 4. We have recently bought an 1977 8.3 and love it. We have sailed it in light and heavy air. Came across the bay in a good wind and steep waves. She sailed well and stayed mostly dry (my wife took the brunt of the one wave that sloshed us). We are still trying out sails and balance but the boat is bearing with us.Ned TylerSara TDeale, MD

out standing boat i had one for years on lk mich, on the motor keep an i on the pee trap warer will collict in it and removel of the stair can become a pain. let me know if you deside to pass her upthanks

repower with a little Yanmar Diesel or put a strong bracket on the transom and hang a Yamaha 9.9 High Thrust 4 stroke long shaft outboard on it.
