Tiller failure

When ever the thru-bolts problems begin to appear on the tiller ....... and the wear and tear enlarges the hole where the bolts go through.... Go to a welder and have him soder a 3/8"aluninum sleeve into the bolt hole ... Let me tell you my friends it works outstanding and all the play will be gone ....]Good LuckGeorge Marco Island

I had the same problem. After redrilling a new hole, I made sure to secure tiller in place by tying it to both cleats. This will eliminate any unnecessary slamming to and fro.
