when to put on vinyl letters

I want to thank in advance for any help here. I’m going to compound then glaze then wax the boat but some where in that process I want to put vinyl lettering on the boat- the name and hailing port. I was wondering when you to that or can you put it over wax after I finish. Thanks again. Larry Jordan S/v Valor in Kent Island.

Larry - I put vinyl lettering on last year. Clean the hull thoroughly, put the letters on, then wax

Just had my boat cleaned and waxed. Had the old name and port removed and will be putting new lettering on soon, over the wax. Wish me luck. Probably should have done it the other way around.
