I have just purchased a C30 # 573. Is there a number stamped into the hull? All I can find is the plate in the cockpit on the transom. This does not state the year. I thought there sould be one on the transom, on the starboard side at the rub rail. Am I wrong?

Vy 80 if you contact Catalina Yachts with your serial Number they should be able to tell you when the yacht was built. Also if you look on the Catalina 30 website under http://www.catalina30.com/OwnersListing/owners-0000.htm it should give you an idea when your boat was built - looks to me like 1977

The serial number should be engraved on the starboard side of the stern, just below the rubrail. Numbers should be just visible, about 5/8" in height. Then go to the Catalina 30 Yacht Owners Association and look under Frequently Asked Questions. There is an example with clear description of what the numbers mean. www.catalina30.com
