Dacron or Mylar Mainsail?

I am shopping for a new Mainsail and have the option of Dacron or Mylar. I will spend about half the time club racing and half cruising - probably near the back of the fleet as I just got the boat and I am still trying to learn how to go fast. The sails would be removed after each outing. What are the Pros and Cons of each material on this boat?

No sail is going to be perfect for racing and cruising. The mylar sail would be the choice for racing but it will cost more $$$ and won't last as long as the dacron sail, all things being equal. The dacron sail would be the best choice for cruising, will last longer, and cost les $$$ so unless you're really serious about racing I'd go with dacron.
