What options were originally available from manufacturer.Diesel? Are parts readily available. Just started total restoration, re-rig, to include total paint and interior. looking for as much info as possible.

Some brochures list an inboard Diesel and wheel steering as options. Our Balboa 8.2, Romsų, has both. For scans of literature see the link below to our website. Parts are available for the Petter Diesel, but the boat builder, Coastal Recreation, Inc., is long out of business. Check Idasailor for some boat parts. Good luck on your restoration. We think the boat is worth the effort.

Any words of wisdom or ideas concerning your balboa? I purchased my balboa as a way to get started sailing...my first experience has led to a total commitment. I am already looking forward to sailing up the st. lawrence seaway to boston harbor, then on to Savana... then east, east, east... Norm

Anyone with information about this boat please contact me...am considering purchasing a fixer-upper for $2,000...has inboard diesel w/450 hours that runs, hull and rigging seems to be in good shape...interior ok, but exterior wood all needs replacing...trailer and tires in good condition - would this be a good opportunity for a novice sailor?

Hi Jim, So, you're the proud owner of a Balboa? I've located a '78 that may be similar to yours, but I don't know much about Balboas. This one seems to be in pretty good shape, has a diesel inboard with 450 hours on it and just needs some cosmetic upgrades (hopefully)...also, it has a good trailer with new tires. Do you think $2,000 is a fair price? Any thoughts you might share with me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Norm, Can you please contact me about your experience with fixing up your Balboa? I'd like to buy one possibly - found a '78 8.2 Coastal with a diesel inboard in quite good condition, and the owner is asking $2,000...what do you think?

I have a 1978 B-27 hull # 202 with OB and Tiller. A wonderful boat though alittle tender, I double reef alot using a 75% jib. How about yours, same year? jim

I have 1978 B27 #239, with OB and tiller too. I sail inland on Lake Travis, Austin, TX, so I don't see a lot of wind. Occasionally, I single reef, but never double.
