My centerboard does not like to go down on its own and when I do have it down it clunks a bit [as in bad bearings] when sailing. The owner's manual drawing shows an inspection port which my 1981 boat doesn't have. Any ideas about how I get to the centerboard pivot and what maintanance to do?
Lucky; I own a 1978 Sunbird. I have been fortunate not to had a problem with my centerboard but it is a common problem. I joined a sunbird discussion group on yahoo.com, there are many posts and the group is extremly helpfull. You will find postss on your centerboard problem. I know the group is looking for an original manual. If you have one that you would be willing to share you would be a hero akin to superman. Pete (rope@newnorth.net)
