Having problems starting on #2 battery. This battery shows a full charge so it would appear there might be a bad connection to starter or to the engine itself. The #1 battery works great. I performed a second test by switching batteries and statarting on #2 was again a problem

Sounds like a bad connection but at the battery switch. It should be the same wiring from the center post of the battery to the starter no matter which battery is on (at least that is how I remember it). Likely the problem is the connection from the battery 2 wire to the switch or the contacts inside the switch.

I believe you have a faulty switch or a bad connection. Reversing the batteries eliminated the batteries as a potential problem. Now it would appear to be in the wire from the battery to the battery selector switch, the terminal connection at the switch or the selector siitch. Disconnect the batteries and check everything with an ohm meter. probably a high resistance in one of these areas, switch open or wire terminal corroded?. Good luck charlie
