Recommendations for repowering/or replacing the volvo 321 A engine. What size and type is recommended?

Bill, I'm sure you know most folks like to repower with more of the same for obvious reasons. My friend replaced engines for twenty years for a large yard. He replaced his with a Yanmar, and he did change motor mounts etc as it was different than original. Volvo parts have become very expensive, and there are Yanmar dealers everywhere. Yanmar is a good choice.

We replaced the engine in our Rasmus with a Yanmar 4JH3E and I am convinced that it was the smartest thing we could have done. Reliable, fuel efficient, and moves the boat at 6 kts @ 2400rpm with plenty of reserve power. Go with a Yan and your engine worries are over.
