I just acquired a '68 Bristol 24 and would like to get any and all info on her. Does anyone have suggestions on getting an owner's manual for starters? r/Andy

There are other forums that are more active with Bristol owners. Try: http://list.sailnet.net/read/?forum=bristol And http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BristolYachts/ Also, some of the information you are looking for might be found at: http://bristolowners.org/

We have owned 7 boats over the past 25 years, and far and away our 1972 Bristol 24 was our favorite. She was facing a watery grave when we found her. There wasn't an inch of that boat that we didn't go over, including gutting the inside, reworking the chainplates (took them outboard), making some adjustments to that awful outboard well, removing the old portlights and replacing them with stainless steel ABI opening ports and everything else you can think of. About the only thing we didn't do (and our one regret about the rebuild) was that we didn't dig out the concrete ballast and replace it with lead. We never had an owner's manual, but we learned an awful lot about that boat, if you have any particular questions. Good luck with her, she will have a special place in your heart once you get to know her.
