View Full Version : Excessive helm under power

I am the new owner of an O'Day 37. It has a Universal M40 with 17" three blade 11 pitch prop. Under power there seems to be a lot of helm. You have to really hold the wheel to maintain course. Has anyone else experienced this same problem and how did you correct it. Under sail the weather helm seems normal.

I don't see anyone jumping in here Al, I can't help you either, but there are a few OD37 owners at the ODay list server at sailnet.com. You could post your question their. By the way I love the 37. It would be my choice of an upgrade for my family. I have the Practical Sailor review, which rates it very highly. Mentioned nothing of your problem in the review. Good luck. Don

I have an ODay 37 with a 40 Westerbeke and 2 blade prop. I do not have this problem, she tracks straight and true under power. I am sorry I cann't help.
