Hi Everyone,The original Vetus den Ouden steering ram on my Rasmus 35 is leaking badly – I need to replace it. Vetus tell me a direct replacement is not possible. Has anybody done this job – got any advice? Thanks Mike

I as well have a Rasmus with a leaky steering Ram ( Hull #152, Ketch rigged ). From the sounds of it my problem is not as severe as yours, only slight leakage, more so when cold. I am trying to find a company who will overhaul the ram if possible, if not then seek a supplier for a new one. If I have success I will let you know. If you do, will you please advise me. email: bgendre@telusplanet.netGood Luck & Kind Regards, Ben.

Ben, Vetus recommended their ram MTC72, however this is not a direct replacement so I had the ram seals replaced by a local firm in Florida. The seals were metric but that presented no problems, however I haven't connected it up yet! There is a lot of information on the Vetus website on steering systems and installations - this is worth a look.Good luck and keep me posted, Mike Mills (UK)
