Ballast Material

Hello Everyone:I was wondering whether any Morgan 32 or 38 owners knew what material (lead, concrete) that Morgan used for the ballast on these boats. My 32 has ballast enclosed inside the fiberglass keel. I am getting ready to install a lightning grounding plate and I am considering the keel as a location. I would like to know what I would have to drill into to mount the plate.Thanks,Kevin

I don't write from direct knowledge, as I've not monkeyed with mine, but I've always heard that the ballast is lead, as opposed to steel, concrete etc. Rich
