Help. We purchased a 245 last year and need to replace the centerboard pendant. I have never done this before, and have no clue how to go about it on this vessel. Can any one let me know?

you have to drop the centerboard.to do this you have to unscrew the stainless steel bolt (mine was almost gone to to electrolysis) that runs through the keel. once you have the board out you will see a pivot loop that is attached near the top of the board. drop a line down the mast support (if the old line is still there you can attach the new line to the old one and pull it through otherwise you have to snake the new one through).now tie the new line to the loop.you can use the new line to pull up the board so you can line up the holes in the board with the holes in the keel.also this is a good time to paint the inside of the keel and the centerboard with anti-fouling paint.all this is done much more easily with the boat out of the water of course, especially the painting. good luck paul shoaps
