I need to replace the rudder bearing/bushing on my 38 Ocean. The rudder post nut has a two prong tool that removes this nut. Any ideas where I can find this special tool? The boat is on the hard and time is crucial. Thanks in advance.Mike Hollingsworth

Is it something you could have a shop fabricate? I welded up a two prong tool for doing brake caliper work, that took only about half an hour to make. That might be the fastest way for you.

Sounds like you need a Spanner Wrench: Tacoma Screw should be able to help orHalston Tools oR

I used to be a plumber, and therefore am familiar with spanner wrenches, but this one is wider than anything I've used in the past. I've written to Bavaria via e-mail with no response. I thought maybe that someone has already crossed this problem before. If you read the owners manual it casually says..."remove rudder post nut", something you are supposed to do occassionally for maintenance inspection. There must be a tool out there.
Bit late in the peice, but you could try a blunt chisel (Caulking type)to knock the nut off. I guess you really need a "C" spanner for the job. I have used a blunt chisel in the past for this type of job and found it quite effective.

Thanks Nashira, I appreciate the response. I guess I'll have to get more aggressive with it.
