My 1984 Universal M25 has a very small water and oil leak from the Oberdoeffer (not sure I spelled this correctly) raw water pump. I'm planning on replacing the impeller - what should I look for in repairing the minor water and oil leak at the same time?? Thanks, Russ C36 #206 Four Sail

The leaks at your Oberdorfer water pump can be stopped by installing new seals. A kit is available from Universal (P/N 298416-A - @$67.88) that contains both seals, an impeller, a snap ring an a cover gasket. It may be wise to have a new base gasket on hand when you remove the pump(P/N 302678 - @$1.00). If the seals failed because of a severely scarred shaft, a new shaft is available for about $50.00 but we would have to know which model pump you have, early or late.
