My Universal 11 Hp Compression check revealed 370# on cold start. This engine has 1240 hours. Is there much life yet?

At 1240 hours, your engine is just broken in. Getting a compression reading of 370 PSI is acceptable considering the degree of difficulty in getting accurate readings on diesels. The pressure is probably about 20% higher. How the engine responds when starting for the first time of the day is a major indicator of the engines condition. If it starts promptly, you are in good shape. Do the required oil and filter changes, keep clean fuel and you're ready for another ten years.
