I recently purchased a 222 which included 2 sets of sails. The newer sails have hanks on the jib. But I was surprised to find the original (so I was told) jib had no hanks, with a cable in the luft. Do I use it like that or did the boat formerly have a foil system?

The original jib was fitted with a Schaeffer roller furling that attaches to the u-shaped ring aft of the forestay. This is designed to be rolled out fully or rolled up fully and is not supposed to be reefed at all. What is nice about this is you can hank on your genoa and secure it and have your choice of either, ready to go every time you go out,all you have to do is lower the jib halyard.I've done it both ways from genoa to jib and vice-versa. I hope this makes sense. If you have more questions e-mail me.I have the ariginal instructions.timnsand@home.com
