What is the estimated life of a diesel engine in a sailboat? I am looking at a couple of used boats and wondering abount engine life. Is 450 hours alot on a 1985?

450 hours is like "out of the box" regardless of the year of the boat. A life expectancy of 10,000 hours is what Yanmar expounds. If the 450 hour engine has been properly maintained, it is like new. With no maintenance it probably doesn't have enough hours to have been harmed.
