Refitting my boat. 3 years ago removed the steering pedestal and all cables. Now installing a new one but I need to know how to attach the engine control cables. It looks like the governor is at idle when the cable is pushed as far as it can go and is at full rpm when it is pulled back. Is this correct? The shift control has no clue which way is right. Does a clockwise turn go into forward or reverse? Are any of you on the boat and can take a look? Geoff

Geoff, On my P-323 pedestal, the RPM lever is standing straight up at idle and then increases RPMs as I move it forward. This lever is on my right when I'm at the wheel. My engine is a Yanmar 3GM. Good Luck, Mainepep

is where I need the info. I can instal the new cables so when I push the lever forward the cable will push or pull. Which do I want? I guess it's not a big problem; I've got a 50/50 chance of getting it right and the change over will not be to difficult. Geoff

I believe that pushing the transmission lever down is forward but I'll check tomorrow and will let you know. Mainepep

Geoff, I was correct that the transmission is in forward when the level is pushed down and it's in reverse when the lever is pulled up. Good Luck, Mainepep
