my 1979 9.2a has a broken head tank. Does anyone have any suggestions about repair or replacement? I am leaning toward replacement but not sure about replacing the entire head tank unit or just the tank. The head is in good working order.
New tanks are reasonably priced if you don't need a custom tank. However, it is possible to fix a tank if the damage is not too severe and if you can pull the tank and get it to a repair shop if it needs welding. If it is a fairly standard size and easy to remove I'd opt for replacement if I were you. I'd bite the bullet and replace the hoses if they haven't been done in a while. You can wipe your hoses with a clean wet paper towel and then smell them...that should tell you if they have had their day and it is time for new.Bob
