Hi - just joining all the Bavaria related things I can find (well, you do that as a new owner, don't you!)

Sirocco (Mike and Jan),I hope you enjoy your boat as much as my wife and myself have enjoyed ours (so far)! We sail our Bavaria 36 Cruiser (2005) in the US San Juan Islands and the Canadian Gulf Islands. This is a beautifully scenic cruising ground offering an almost endless choice of places to go and see, in relatively sheltered waters. I feel truly blessed, even though the weather sometimes is a little colder than I would prefer and a little rainier as well.My wife and I are heading to Australia early next year for an extended vacation and will be on the west coast for a few days (thinking about going to Perth, Monkey Maia, and maybe Shark Bay). I do realize these are a long ways apart. Other suggestions?I see you have found the Bavaria Yacht Owners Association run by Ken Johnson. Welcome aboard. Our boat is listed there, with a few photos from our "christening" party. Friends of ours own a new Bavaria 37, so I am fairly familiar with your boat. Great boat in my opinion! We are Canadian, by the way, even though our boat is moored in the US. It is a bit of a strange situation, but it works very well.Good Luck and enjoy!Tom and Terry,Bare NecessitiesBavaria 36 Cruiser

Hi Tom, and thanks for the welcome. WA has some splendid places to visit and those you mentioned are definately worth a look, I would suggest also a visit to the Margaret River area, and perhaps Cervantes, to the North of Perth, which has a desert called the Pinnacles, it's fascinating. Locally, top of your list should be Rottnest Island, 12 nautical miles from Hillarys - email us nearer the time and we'll take you there on Sirocco :)

Mike,Thanks alot for the invite. If we can make it work out, it would be great to go for a sail on Sirocco with you guys. I will try to contact you in late January, just before we leave Canada and let you know when and for how long we will be in the Perth area. Thanks again,Tom
