Hi, does anyone know how to remove WD40 stains from the teak deck in the cockpit? We accidentally had some 'overspray' which landed on the deck and didn't get noticed until it had dried. I've tried teak cleaner, but to no avail. Just a silly little question, I know, but seeing the stains which are now dark and dirty looking really bugs me!
There are residuals in WD40 that will seem to gum up some things. In a pinch I use the stuff for honing edged tools and my sharpening stones get sticky but a solvent wash cleans them up.

among other treatments. Tape the area(s) off if you need to. You can also use a razor blade to scrape off the area infected by oil if there is enough 'heft' to the wood. Then refinish.Good luck.

Over time it will all evaporate without a trace. Anything else you do will leave a mark.

Mike,I have used oxalyic acid successfully, and the teak looked like new for a while. However, for a new boat like yours I would be hesitant. This product removes a small amount of the wood along with the dirt and stains, and the teak decking on the Bavarias is not that thick. To maintain the teak, just wash it with salt water on a regular basis and always rub it "across the grain" if any "scrubbing" is needed. Like everyone else says, be careful.Good luck,Tom
